Every season has ‘ifs.’ Check out these four for the Alabama football 2020 season.

Every Alabama football off-season raises questions about future contributions from new or returning, little-used players. In every case, the ‘if’ is simple. Can player X be a key contributor in the coming season? This season will move forward without the benefit of a spring practice, meaning even fewer ‘if’ answers than a normal offseason.

It is expected the early-enroll, incoming freshmen will be most harmed by the canceled spring. More ‘ifs’ than normal does not automatically mean fewer opportunities. Certainly, the summer enrollees don’t have half a class having a head start on them.

There are more than a few Crimson Tide players applicable to the ‘if’ question. This post focuses on four of them. It also does not include any kickers. As every Alabama football fan knows, every Crimson Tide kicker since J.K.Scott (and nearly all Tide kickers ever), have been too frequently ‘iffy.’

The Alabama Crimson Tide has had great punters and placekickers in its history. Except for Scott, they are mostly forgotten. Too well remembered is the doubt and sometimes pain when a game outcome hinges on an Alabama Crimson Tide kicker.

In this discussion, the four ‘if’ guys are freshman, Drew Sanders, redshirt freshman, Ishmael Sopsher, redshirt senior, Ben Davis and freshman, Javon Baker.
