Alabama football would love to have this schedule in 2020.

It feels weird to be so close to college football without knowing all of Alabama football’s opponents. That is sadly the case for almost every team across the country. With conferences changing to conference-only schedules, games are being canceled at an alarming rate. The Crimson Tide still don’t know who their first opponent will be.

80 percent of Alabama’s opponents are set in stone. Assuming there is a college football season, the Tide will play the eight SEC opponents already on the 2020 slate. That leaves two big questions. Who will the other two opponents be, and what order will the games be played?

Florida and Vanderbilt are the most likely opponents. This would be bad news for Alabama football. Instead, let’s look at the ideal schedule for the Crimson Tide. This schedule has some caveats. We are unsure if the SEC will change the order of games currently on the schedule. We also don’t know how bye weeks will work. Let’s assume that the order can be changed, we have two bye weeks before the SEC Championship, and that Alabama won’t have to play both Florida and Vanderbilt. Again, this is the ideal schedule. There are plenty of ways for this to go that work for the Tide. This would just be the best case scenario.

The perfect Alabama football 2020 schedule.

Sept. 26: @ Arkansas

It’s not ideal to start on the road, but Alabama football would have been playing in Texas to start the year anyway. This will be Alabama’s easiest opponent in 2020, so you might as well have a great start to the season.

Oct. 3: @ Ole Miss

Let’s get the Lane Kiffin reunion out of the way early. It will take the Rebels some time to get things rolling, so it is ideal for Alabama to play them early. The Crimson Tide should have no problems against this team in 2020.
