Could 5-star Ga’Quincy McKinstry be playing for Alabama football next year?

Alabama football has blazed the recruiting trail over the past few months, but they are not done. One of the top recruits on Alabama’s board is Ga’Quincy McKinstry, the best cornerback in the 2021 class. We don’t know where he will play college football just yet, but he did tip his hand in this latest video.

This is by no means a guarantee that GQ will come to Tuscaloosa, but it is certainly a good sign. The script A logo has been an icon for the Tide’s gloves since Mark Ingram famously flashed them to the camera back in 2009. This at least shows that McKinstry is heavily considering committing to Alabama.

Ga’Quincy McKinstry would be a major land for Alabama football. The Crimson Tide will likely be without Patrick Surtain next season, and this player could potentially start as a freshman. There is very little experience in the secondary for Alabama as of right now, so it is vital that they recruit some top-level talent this year. The only other cornerback commit as of right now is Devonta Smith. While Alabama has the deepest O-line class in college football history, they desperately need to recruit more players in the secondary.

Will Alabama football end up landing Ga’Quincy McKinstry

I doubt that even McKinstry knows where he will play college football as of right now. The three top contenders appear to be Alabama, Auburn and LSU. 247’s Crystal Ball has it at about a 38 percent chance that he comes to Alabama. However, no national recruiter has made a prediction. A Clemson insider picked Clemson, Hank South picked the Tide, and two Auburn experts picked the Tigers. These people are usually getting their information from the schools as opposed to the athletes. Once McKinstry announces a decision date, look back and see if any other experts make a prediction.

This will be an interesting recruitment to watch. Landing another 5-star prospect would help Alabama’s odds of having the top overall recruiting class in 2021. However, recruiting rankings are not how champions are decided. The main reason why Alabama has fought so hard to land this prospect is because he is going to be an absolute stud over his college career. He would be the next great Alabama cornerback, and the Tide could really use him in the future.

All Crimson Tide fans are hoping that McKinstry will keep his Alabama gloves on when he commits to the Capstone.
