Bold predictions for Alabama football’s opponents: Auburn Tigers

Auburn will regret their massive buyout on Gus Malzahn’s contract.

Auburn’s win against Alabama football in 2019 really helped cover up a plethora of their issues. They relied too much on defense, and many of their stars are no longer on the roster. Without Derrick Brown and Noah Igbinoghene, the Tigers are going to struggle on defense.

These woes will impact how the offense operates. Auburn won’t be very high power in 2020, and it will cost them some key games. A glance at their schedule shows plenty of reasons for concern. They knew that they’d have to play against Alabama, Georgia and LSU. They also have to play against the Aggies. That is tough enough, but they now add Tennessee to the mix. I believe that the Tigers are better than the Vols, but this is no guaranteed win for Auburn. There is a formula that leads to Auburn struggling to reach .500 on the season.

If Auburn struggles that much, I could see them wanting a new coach. However, Gus Malzahn’s buyout is insane. There is little to no way that they could escape that with limited revenue from the college football season.

They might not admit it to the public, but I’m expecting Auburn fans to wish they had a more school-friendly contract. Auburn is always unpredictable, so we’ll have to keep an eye on how their season goes.
