Alabama football is also important for some injured players.

Dylan Moses, LB

Dylan Moses is one of the best linebackers in all of college football, but a devastating knee injury has left him without playing the game for a year. He decided to return to Alabama for his redshirt junior season in hopes of cementing his draft stock. We’ve talked a lot about how this was the right decision despite the complications of the pandemic. However, a lot of that is thrown out the window with no college football. Moses at least needs an opportunity to get medically inspected by NFL teams, something that wasn’t possible in April.

Trey Sanders, RB

Trey Sanders won’t be a starter, but will certainly get touches if we have football. If the Alabama football season is canceled, then Trey Sanders might declare for the NFL Draft after only playing in one football season after 2021. He has the talent to be the next Josh Jacobs, but he doesn’t have a second on tape. It’s hard to imagine a scenario where the top running back in the 2022 NFL Draft would go into their final college season without taking a snap. That’s why Trey Sanders needs football in 2020. He needs to show flashes of talent now, then he can prove that it’s sustainable after Najee Harris goes to the pros.

LaBryan Ray, IDL

Ray’s injury last season had a major impact on his NFL Draft stock, and it also hurt the depth of the Crimson Tide. He is now draft eligible with only freshman flashes to show NFL scouts. He needs to prove that he’s healthy, but he also needs to show what kind of player he is in general. All you hear about LaBryan Ray is hype. He needs to add substance in 2020.
