Alabama football might be looking for Khyree Jackson to start in 2021.

The recruiting class got stronger this week as Alabama football landed JUCO CB Khyree Jackson. Jackson is the second cornerback for the Crimson Tide in their 2021 recruiting class, but he has a rare opportunity.

As a JUCO transfer, Jackson has a chance to start as soon as he is on Alabama’s roster. Without four years of eligibility, he will need to contribute early. We’ve seen this in the past with JUCO transfers. The first names that come to mind are Isaiah Buggs and Saivion Smith. Both had instant impacts with the Crimson Tide.

Alabama football will likely need Jackson to start right away. At the end of this season, Patrick Surtain will almost certainly declare for the NFL Draft. If Josh Jobe has a stellar year, he might go as well. Alabama already lacks experience in the secondary for this upcoming season, and it will only be further depleted in 2021.

That’s where Khyree Jackson steps in. He will almost definitely start at some point in 2021. If everything goes right, he could start for Alabama football in their season opener.

Who else is Alabama football targeting in the 2021 class?

The Crimson Tide would love to add one more cornerback to their 2021 recruiting class. In a perfect world, that recruit would be Ga’Quincy McKinstry. McKinstry may have possibly tipped his hand recently about joining the Tide, but he could easily choose to go to Auburn instead. Without McKinstry in the 2021 recruiting class for Alabama, it is vital that Jackson has an early impact.

Alabama also landed 4-star defensive end Monkell Goodwine on Saturday. With these additions, there are few spots available on the Crimson Tide roster. We’ll have to wait and see who they land, but expect greatness from this recruiting class.

Very few corners get to start in their first year on Alabama’s roster. Khyree Jackson has that opportunity. Tide fans hope he can make the most of it.
