Running Backs

This is where things get more difficult. There is a possibility that there are three former Alabama football RBs in the top 10 fantasy RBs and four in the top 20. At the top look no further than the 2020 rushing champ Derrick Henry. He is poised to have another huge season because of the beefed-up offensive line of the Titans. Even though he is a solid choice, he won’t be the best option at the position because of his lack of contribution in the passing game.

RBs that can catch out of the backfield are more coveted than just pure between the tackles guys. There are two such former Alabama RBs in the NFL right now. Kenyan Drake and Josh Jacobs. ESPN has Drake above Jacobs in their rankings but I believe there is more risk in Drake than Jacobs. Drake has only had streaky success in the NFL but his fresh start with the Arizona Cardinals last season reignited his career.

Those are the three best options but you still can’t forget about Alabama’s first Heisman winner, Mark Ingram. Ingram has started to decline in the past couple of seasons but still is a top 20 RB in the best rushing offense in the NFL with the Ravens. He has been seeing fewer and fewer targets out of the backfield recently and that is the main reason for his decline in fantasy.

One final former Alabama football RB to mention is Damien Harris. Harris hasn’t seen the field much in his short time in the NFL, but there is a possibility that he starts seeing more consistent carries in 2020. He is worth a late-round flier in deeper leagues.
