Alabama Football: Post-Scrimmage Offensive Depth Chart
By Ronald Evans
Alabama Football Offensive Depth Chart – Tight Ends
It is time for the familiar lament – will the Crimson Tide utilize its tight ends more. As mentioned on the previous page, Carl Tucker and particularly Jahleel Billingsley are hybrids. They do not have to line up shoulder-to-shoulder with a tackle.
Tight ends and occasional H-backs have an important primary job – to block. The Alabama football staff also lines up offensive linemen as tight ends in short-yardage and goalline situations. Given the situational nature of the position, starters are less important than other positions.
- Starter A – Miller Forristall
- Starter B – Jahleel Billingsley
- Rotational – Carl Tucker
- Rotational – Cameron Latu
- Backup – Major Tennison
- Situational – Kendall Randolph
Alabama Football Offensive Depth Chart – Offensive Line
The Alabama Crimson Tide can make a fair claim to having the best offensive line in the nation. Among the starters, there is little first-team competition, other than the center position. With Evan Neal and Alex Leatherwood, the Crimson Tide has the best pair of tackles in college football.
Center is a three-way battle with a fourth guy option. Chris Owens, Darrian Dalcourt and Emil Ekiyor will fight it out for the starting role. If necessary, Landon Dickerson can be moved from guard to play center.
An interesting situation to follow throughout the season will be whether true freshman, Javion Cohen gets any second-unit time. His Crimson Tide future appears bright.
- Left Tackle Starter – Alex Leatherwood
- Left Tackle Backup – Tommy Brown
- Left Guard Starter – Deonte Brown
- Left Guard Backup – Emil Ekiyor
- Center Starter – Chris Owens or Darrian Dalcourt or Emil Ekiyor
- Right Guard Starter – Landon Dickerson
- Right Guard Backup – Pierce Quick
- Right Tackle Starter – Evan Neal
- Right Tackle Backup – Kendall Randolph or Javion Cohen or Amari Kight
As fall camp continues, there will be changes in the two-deep. Changes in starters will be few, given the amount of returning experience in the Alabama football roster.
