Alabama football is far from done with 2021 recruiting.

We are months away from any high school prospect officially signing a scholarship, but Alabama football has already hauled in one of the best groups of players in recruiting history. They have elite offensive tackles, dynamic players at wide receiver, and a quarterback of the future on offense. They also reloaded with some of the best defensive players in the 2021 recruiting class. However, there is still plenty of work to do.

What specifically must be done before National Signing Day? First and foremost, the Crimson Tide must retain commitments from their top prospects. No matter what a player says, you can’t feel comfortable until the fax officially comes in. Crazy things always happen in the twelfth hour, and you don’t want to lose a future star because you did not stay in touch.

Outside of that, there is always room to upgrade a recruiting class. Alabama football currently has 20 players committed, but they should be able to add at least five more guys. With these final spots, there is a debate about if you should go for the top prospects or positions of need. Thankfully, the Tide have no obvious holes in this class. After landing a quarterback, they basically get to pick and choose their best options. If they were to look at any specific position, I would consider adding a defensive back. One or two four-star corners could really put this class above all others.

Outside of that, Alabama can just look at their recruiting board and go after top names. One of the top prospects available is Ga’Quincy McKinstry, a five-star corner out of Pinson, Alabama. The Tide are in a tight recruiting battle with Auburn, so this will be fun to watch.

Another top target is Tunmise Adeleye, a player who recently de-committed from Ohio State. If you could add these two players to the 2021 recruiting class without losing any other players, that would be a massive win for Alabama football. Even if you could split these two and land a few other targets, this class would be one of the best that Nick Saban has ever had.

Next. Realistic expectations for Bryce Young. dark

Alabama has always been one of the best at recruiting. Much like any sales pitch or sporting event, the close is the key. With heightened focus, Nick Saban and his staff should be able to close out a top-tier class.
