These Alabama football players will shine in Week 1 of the NFL.
The Alabama Crimson Tide have more former players in the NFL than any other team in all of college football. Starting the season with 56 players on rosters, they have enough to fill an entire NFL team. Only four teams in the NFL have no Alabama football players on their NFL Week 1 rosters, so you will see Tide alumni in practically every game of the NFL season.
While Crimson Tide fans have reasons to root for their own NFL teams, they also want to see Alabama players shine. These three new NFL players will shine in their first games in the pros.
3 Alabama football players to watch in Week 1.
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Denver Broncos
Jerry Jeudy was a fan favorite during his time in Tuscaloosa, and he will be a star in the AFC West. The Broncos open the season against the Titans on Monday Night football, so this might be one of the few games available for fans in Alabama to see without paying to watch every NFL game.
Not only is Jeudy a key of the offense, but his role will be increased at the start of the NFL season. With WR1 Courtland Sutton’s status for their season opener uncertain, Drew Lock will have to turn to the younger receivers against the Titans. Jeudy might receive WR1 targets in his first professional game.
If you watch this game, you can see both Jerry Jeudy and Derrick Henry in the same game. There’s not much more you could ask for as an Alabama football fan.
Henry Ruggs, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
Henry Ruggs was the first wide receiver drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, and the Raiders will look for him to get touches early in his NFL career. In Week 1, the Raiders will play the Carolina Panthers. Carolina is looking to rebuild with a new head coach and starting quarterback, so watch out for some errors early in their season. If Ruggs can take advantage of any defensive mistakes, he will prove to all fans that he deserved to be drafted so high.
Jonah Williams, LT, Cincinnati Bengals
I had to show the offensive line some love on my list, and Jonah Williams will make his NFL debut this week. Many forget about Williams due to his season-ending injury last year but watch out for him to shine in 2020-21. Most eyes will be on Joe Burrow when the Bengals offense takes the field, but he is going to need as much time in the pocket as possible.
Williams will line up against Joey Bosa and the Los Angeles Chargers, so he has a tough task ahead of him.
You always want to see former Alabama football players shine in the NFL, and all three of these players have a chance to in the first week of the season.
