Alabama Football: 2020 preseason SEC power rankings

SEC football power rankings: 2 Alabama football rivals from Mississippi
10. Ole Miss Rebels
A former Nick Saban assistant will be coaching an SEC football team. Can you even be surprised? Ever since Lane Kiffin became the offensive coordinator with Alabama football, we all knew that he was only working his way up the ladder to become a head coach again. He flew to Boca Raton as soon as he got an opportunity, and now he is back in the SEC.
Ole Miss playing Alabama football will be Lane Kiffin’s championship. If he could somehow upset the Crimson Tide, he would achieve all of his personal goals. However, he’s not going to be doing that in 2020.
Watch out for John Rhys Plumlee to thrive in this offense, but his success won’t be enough to carry the Rebels to a .500 season. A strong offensive performance with an upset win or two to help with recruiting will set Lane Kiffin up to succeed throughout his contract.
9. Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs will be interesting to watch in 2020 with Mike Leach in charge, but it will take some time before he can recruit for his offensive scheme. Kylin Hill will be the best player by far on the roster, but I’m not confident that Leach will fully use a running back. Hill and Leach are great at what they do, but they don’t necessarily mesh well together. It will be something worth watching in 2020.
Having a limited fanbase will hurt the Bulldogs as they rely on crowd noise to have an impact. However, they have plenty of reasons to be hopeful for the future.
