3. Mac Jones proves he can lead the team

Welcome to Mac Jones’ football team.

An electric Bryce Young is the future of the program; however, Jones’ time is now.

Entering his fourth year, Mac understands the weighty expectations of Nick Saban after four career starts. With an opportunity to sneak into the CFP on the line,  Jones threw two dastardly back-breaking interceptions at Auburn, but he was not the sole reason for the loss.

Renowned scholar C.S. Lewis once said, “Failures are the fingerposts to achievement.”  Against Big Ten foe Michigan the following game, Mac recovered well, dousing the Wolverines for 327 yards and three touchdowns.

Word has quickly spread how locked in the six-foot-three quarterback has been since camp started.

Not letting the deafening external noise about Young and a quarterback battle rattle him in his progression is pleasing to hear. Jones doesn’t need to run a hurry-up, quick-strike offense like Tua. He doesn’t need to become a game manager, either. If he can effectively use all the talent at the skill positions, the offense has the potential of becoming more dangerous than the last few seasons.

Keep lighting a fire under the offense, Mac. Your team needs your extraordinary leadership and experience to vault into the CFP.

Alabama football dominating Missouri in the opener is needed to set the tone for the rest of the season. If that happens, look out college football.
