Alabama Football: Five Predictions for Bama-Missouri Season Opener
By Ronald Moody
Will Anderson and Drew Sanders record a sack apiece
The Alabama Football Depth Chart release surprised many fans when two freshmen showed up in the Jack position, Will Anderson and Drew Sanders. Arriving on campus as big-time recruits, both have impressed.
Saban spoke on their promise earlier in camp,
"Drew Sanders and Will Anderson both have shown some promise. They’re still working through understanding exactly what to do and how to do it, but they’re both guys that I think can probably contribute to the team.”"
Word began to circulate that Anderson was unblockable in the Alabama football scrimmages, leading some to say he reminded them of an all-time great Derrick Thomas.
Pump your brakes on him being better than DT.
One thing Alabama lacked in recent seasons is a disruptive pass rush. Saban rants about how sacks are not as important as affecting the quarterback. Alabama finished with 32 sacks last season, good for 43rd in the nation.
Anderson and Sanders coming off the edge provide go-go juice the defense has been missing. Saban plays freshman defenders, and when he does, they are extra special.
