Alabama Football: SEC Football Week 4 Power Rankings
By Ronald Evans
Sept. 27 SEC Football Power Rankings
No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide – 70 points
No. 2 Florida Gators – 65 points
No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs – 58 points
The two biggest takes from the Alabama football win are the performances of the Crimson Tide defense and Mac Jones. The Tide defense is much improved despite allowing its intensity to drop in the fourth quarter and surrendering 13 points. Mac Jones executed Steve Sarkisian’s offense at a championship level. His Quarterback Rating, per ESPN was 95.2.
The Gators showed an explosive combination of two Kyles, Trask and Pitts. Trask threw for six touchdowns, four of them to Pitts. While the Gators had 642 yards of total offense, its defense gave up 613 yards. Lane Kiffin has a great offensive mind, but giving up over 600 yards to any Ole Miss team does not speak well for a Florida unit expected to be strong.
In Athens, GA. Bulldogs’ fans are wondering what transpired preventing their two ‘Heisman-Finalist’ QBs (cough-cough) from starting the season. Kirby Smart does not have a satisfactory answer. The Bulldogs muddled their way past an abysmally bad Arkansas team, trailing 7-5 at halftime. Credit Kirby’s defense for the Bulldogs clinging to No. 3 in our rankings.
