Alabama football can root for other teams this Saturday.
College football is a national experience. Alabama football fans will cheer on their beloved Crimson Tide, but they love to keep up with the sport as a whole. If a big game is on, Tide fans want to watch it and see how it will impact their team.
This Saturday will be pivotal for Alabama. While they will be playing Ole Miss, national contenders will face tests across the college football landscape. Here is a guide to what fans should be rooting for to make Alabama’s CFP path easier.
The best-case scenario for Alabama football ended up happening last week. It won’t be that easy this Saturday, but this is who Tide fans should be rooting for.
Oklahoma over Texas
The Big 12 has been a dumpster fire so far in the 2020 season, and the Oklahoma Sooners are already eliminated from the College Football Playoff with two losses to inferior teams. Texas might as well be eliminated, but they still have a chance to run the table and compete for a final spot. If OU beats Texas, Oklahoma State will be the only team from the conference left with any hope of making it to the Playoff. They will almost certainly lose to someone along the way.
Texas A&M over Florida
Alabama is coming off of a statement win against the Texas A&M Aggies. I doubt that the Aggies have a true chance of upsetting the Florida Gators, but this would be huge for the Crimson Tide. Florida is a national title contender, and an upset this early in the season would have a major impact on the rest of 2020.
Tennessee over Georgia
This one does not truly matter. Alabama will have to beat both of these teams to go undefeated, and they might face one of them again in the SEC Championship. However, an early loss by Georgia would make their game against Alabama a must-win. It would be nice for the Crimson Tide to break the hearts of Georgia fans next Saturday. The best-case scenario for this game is that both teams look sloppy and sluggish.
Miami over Clemson
This one is obvious. Clemson is Alabama’s biggest competition to win the championship. They’re ranked at the top of the AP poll for a reason. If they are weak against Miami, Alabama’s odds of winning it all will skyrocket.
Most of these things won’t happen on Saturday, but this is who Alabama football fans should be rooting for this upcoming weekend.
