While not the two are not each other’s main rivals, the competition between Alabama Football and UGA is anything from friendly, and Saturday night promises to add to the slew of iconic games.

Alabama Football has been the powerhouse of the West for better than the last decade. Since Nick Saban’s own Kirby Smart took over for Georgia, UGA has been the major contender from the SEC East. That has set the two SEC bullies on crash courses for each other many times in recent years. The games are always exciting and almost always become instant classics.

The fact that Nick Saban taught Kirby Smart everything he knows makes the rivalry even more contentious. UGA has been notorious in recent years for copying everything the Tide does, from the LED stadium lights to the NFL player boxes. Kirby Smart and UGA strive to be just like Alabama Football.

There is one main difference between the two though.

UGA hasn’t won a national title in forty years. For comparison sake, it has been 3 years for the Tide.

Kirby Smart still hasn’t been able to finish the big games, especially against Alabama Football. Even if they lead the first half, a backup quarterback always seems to ruin things for them. More on that later…

For now, we all anxiously await the next huge game between the second-ranked Tide and third-ranked Bulldawgs. In the biggest news about the game right now, Nick Saban may not be on the sideline for the Tide. After a positive COVID-19 test earlier this week but a negative test on Thursday and Friday, he is waiting on one more negative test on Saturday before he can join the Alabama Football team on the sidelines for this game.

We can only hope the GOAT will be able to coach the game, but for now, let’s look back at the last six iconic matchups between the two SEC heavyweights.
