A Nick Saban coached Alabama Football team has its first battle with UGA…

2007- UGA 26 Alabama 23 OT

This was a heartbreaking loss. In Nick Saban’s first year, Mark Richt and the Dawgs were just too much for the Tide. The game ended tied at 20 before beginning overtime. The Tide got the ball first, but John Parker Wilson couldn’t lead the Tide to a touchdown. Leigh Tiffin kicked a field goal to give the Tide a three-point lead.

Unfortunately, the Shula-recruited defense couldn’t hang on any longer. UGA quarterback Matthew Stafford found Mikey Henderson for a 25-yard touchdown pass for the game-winning touchdown.

2008- “The Blackout”: Alabama 41 UGA 30

This was the iconic game where Scott Cochran was on record saying that UGA would be wearing black to attend their own funeral.. (expletives excluded of course). This was the game where everything went right for the Tide, according to JPW, and Tide fans first really saw what a Nick Saban coached team would look like.

It was a dominating performance all around with the Tide leading 31-0 at halftime, and this began the twelve-years-and-counting route of the Dawgs.
