Alabama Football: November Crimson Tide recruiting update

facebooktwitterreddit

Alabama Football: With so few spots left, the Crimson Tide will close strong but will have to pass on some top targets.

Alabama football has 22 verbal commitments in the 2021 recruiting class. Based on those commits, the ’21 class may become one of the Crimson Tide’s best-ever. A fair claim can be made it will be the top class for offensive linemen in Crimson Tide history.

Alabama football insiders are hoping there will be room for five more players. At 27, and more so if it can only be 26, there will not be room for every top prospect wanting to become an Alabama football player.

As happened when the Tide had no room for Seth Williams, opposing fans will claim their team ‘stole’ a recruit from Nick Saban. Of the remaining top Tide targets, some will prefer other schools, but others will go elsewhere out of necessity.

Assuming there will be room for five more targets, let’s review the position groups of the current commits.

  • Offensive Line – Four commits and probably no room to add more.
  • Quarterback – One commit and no intention to add another.
  • Running Back – No commits and one will probably not be added. 5-Star Camar Wheaton might require the plan to change.
  • Wide Receiver – Three commits and the Tide hopes to add 4-Star, Brian Thomas.
  • Tight End – One commit and not likely to be room for another.
  • Defensive Line – Five commits – 5-Star J. T. Tulmoloau is possible, along with 5-Star Maason Smith, along with 4-Stars, Shemar Turner and Tunmise Adeleye. It is likely the Crimson Tide staff would make room for three of the four, if the opportunity arises. There is also a possibility of flipping 4-Star, Tyreak Sapp from the Florida Gators.
  • Linebacker – Four commits – The Tide staff would like to finish with 4-Star, Xavian Sorey.
  • Defensive Back – Four commits – 4-Star Terrion Arnold and 5-Star Sage Ryan (recent LSU commit) are two guys the Tide wants to add.
