Alabama football’s report card vs. Kentucky

Offensive Line: A

The offense fired on all cylinders for most of this game, and it was mostly due to the offensive line. They consistently got push at the line of scrimmage, which is more than enough for Najee Harris. Mac Jones also had a clean pocket for the majority of this game.

Kentucky got some pressure early in this game, but the offensive line got better as the game went on. Najee had one of the longest runs of his career, and the Tide scored multiple rushing touchdowns. Landon Dickerson had multiple mauling plays. The best part of this game was that the offensive line limited their pre-snap mistakes. That has been their one weakness this season. We’ll see how that goes in Alabama’s future games.

Defensive Line: B+

Alabama’s defense as a whole struggled early, but they stood up when it mattered most. They forced three field-goal attempts after Kentucky marched down the field, and part of that was because of the defensive pressure. Phil Mathis and Christian Barmore both had great games with multiple highlight plays. Kentucky’s only hope of winning this game was in the trenches, and the defensive line kept them from doing so. It wasn’t perfect, but the D-line should be proud of what they did.
