Alabama basketball 2020 bold predictions

2. Jahvon Quinerly will be the next star point guard

Alabama basketball hasn’t had many superstars on the team in recent years. That being said, their talent at point guard has been an embarrassment of riches. They started with Collin Sexton, a five-star prospect who went early in the NBA lottery. They replaced him with two years of Kira Lewis. They will now turn to Quinerly, and he will live up to that standard.

Quinerly was on the team last season, but he was ineligible due to an NCAA ruling. Because of that, he has spent a year learning the ins and outs of the Nate Oats offense. This will be vital for his development as he becomes the man in charge in 2020.

Kira played almost every minute of Alabama basketball last year, and Quinerly will see a similar role this season. The Tide have little point guard depth, and no one can compete with Quinerly’s talent. If he is off the floor, the Crimson Tide will have to rely on a ball handler from a different position. I doubt that Nate Oats will want to do that often, so expect Quinerly to average at least 35 minutes a game.

JQ has been hyped up for a year, and this is his time to live up to the standard. I believe he will thrive in this offense and potentially be Alabama’s next lottery pick.
