Who will Alabama football want to see in the College Football Playoff?

We are slowly approaching the end of the college football season, and Alabama football still controls its own destiny. If they win the rest of their games, they will almost certainly be ranked as the top team in college football.

This is no guarantee, but the Tide are expected to at least make it to the College Football Playoff. The bigger question is who Alabama would face in the CFP. The Tide get no say in their opponent, but they can certainly be hoping to face certain teams.

We’ve seen the importance of matchups in the College Football Playoff. The easier your path to victory is, the better odds you have of winning it all. With that in mind, here is a ranked list of potential College Football Playoff opponents.

Excluding Alabama football, there are nine teams with at least a 10% chance of making it to the College Football Playoff. This is according to the ESPN FPI, and we will use those teams to see who the Tide should want to face. Some of these remain unlikely, but this is the most unbiased way to come up with a running list. Alabama would love to play Troy or Arkansas in the CFP, but those are completely out of the realm of possibility. With plenty of games to play, this list includes practically every team with a genuine shot to make it to the final four teams of college football. Without any further delay, let’s start with some teams that the Crimson Tide want to avoid.
