Ranking Alabama football’s potential CFP opponents

7. Florida Gators

There is only one reason why Alabama would not want to play the Gators in the College Football Playoff. If Florida makes the CFP, that means that they beat the Crimson Tide. Alabama is expected to beat the Gators in the SEC Championship, but Florida would have to pull off the upset to have a chance to make the Playoff.

There are reasons to be high on Florida. Kyle Trask is a legitimate Heisman candidate. Kyle Pitts is a matchup nightmare. Toney is one of the fastest receivers in college football. They have all sorts of weapons, and they have statement wins on their resume. That being said, Alabama will have a great chance to eliminate them from CFP contention in December.

6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

In all honesty, Alabama football would be more than willing to play Notre Dame in the Playoff. However, there is no doubting that the Fighting Irish are the best team left on this list. They have a strong running game, a veteran at quarterback, and quality coaching. Notre Dame has one of the best resumes in the country after beating Clemson. This alone makes Notre Dame a strong opponent.

Notre Dame has the talent to beat Alabama if absolutely everything goes right, which is more than what can be said about the other potential opponents.
