Ranking Alabama football’s potential CFP opponents

3. USC Trojans

This would be a great matchup for Alabama football. USC was supposed to play against Alabama to open this college football season, but COVID-19 crushed that dream. This is the only way that the dream of playing the Trojans in 2020 stays alive.

USC has barely played, and they are one loss away from being essentially eliminated from the CFP. With that in mind, this is unlikely to happen. However, Alabama would already have some prep for this game done. The Tide should be able to stop Slovis and the Trojans, and they would be heavily favored to win this game. USC lost multiple stars from last year’s team, and they weren’t necessarily great in 2019 in the first place.

2. Northwestern Wildcats

It doesn’t matter that Northwestern is undefeated. They have gotten lucky in multiple games this year. That luck will run out by the end of the season. If they somehow make it to the College Football Playoff, it will be one of the biggest blowouts in college football history.

Northwestern’s defense has kept them in almost all of their games so far. Their low-scoring offense won’t hold up against any competitive team in the country. However, Northwestern technically controls its own destiny. If the Wildcats can somehow win out and upset Ohio State, they will almost certainly make the College Football Playoff.
