NBA: 3 potential trade destinations for Collin Sexton
By Dakota Cox
What if Collin Sexton were traded to another NBA team?
Alabama basketball has a few former players in the NBA. One of the best so far has been Collin Sexton. Sexton was a star recruit for Avery Johnson, and he was drafted in the lottery by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Sexton shined with Alabama, and fans are cheering him on in the NBA. Many believe that Sexton proved that you could succeed at basketball in Tuscaloosa, making him part of the reason why Kira Lewis became an Alabama basketball star and NBA lottery pick.
Sexton is far from an All-NBA talent so far, but he is a solid guard with room to grow. However, he does not seem to be a great fit for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs need to change a lot of things to be successful, and they might prefer value from a Collin Sexton trade.
Although this is unlikely, Alabama basketball fans would certainly prefer for Sexton to be traded. The Cavs have been bad since LeBron James went to play for the Lakers, and Sexton would play much better on a different team.
Until the Cavs turn things around, fans can only hope for a trade. Here are three potential destinations for Collin Sexton if the Cavaliers decide to shop him.
Oklahoma City Thunder
OKC definitely has the trade capital to make this move. The Thunder have shopped multiple stars as they are trying to rebuild around Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Oklahoma City had three point guards on the floor at times last year, and they have traded away two of their best PGs. Sexton could play a role alongside Alexander as they try to build for the future.
I’m not sure if Oklahoma City is looking to acquire players at this point in time, but they would definitely be interested in adding Sexton at the right price. He is a great player who would likely try to stay in Oklahoma City for a while.
