Alabama Football: 5 bold predictions for Alabama vs. LSU
By Dakota Cox
Alabama football could have a wild Saturday vs. LSU
After over a year of waiting, Alabama football will finally get a chance at revenge against the LSU Tigers. They will travel to Baton Rouge and play against a struggling LSU team that hasn’t come close to achieving their successes of last year. Needless to say, Alabama is expected to roll on Saturday.
Picking Alabama to win this game would be far from a bold prediction. Picking them to dominate alone would not be a surprise. To have predictions for Alabama football’s next game, we need to get truly bold.
With that in mind, here are five bold predictions for the Crimson Tide against the LSU Tigers.
5. Devonta Smith will score multiple touchdowns
Last season, Smitty was Alabama’s third option on offense. However, Tua targeted him often in this game, and he had over 200 receiving yards. He was covered by Derek Stingley Jr., who was LSU’s youngest defensive back. This year, these are the two best players on each team. Despite the issues for LSU, Stingley remains a solid cornerback.
That being said, Smith is the best wide receiver in college football. Mac Jones will target him often, and Jones is incredibly accurate.
Without Jaylen Waddle, Smitty has been even more critical for the Alabama offense. He has thrived in this new role as the clear-cut first option. Although Stingley will be Smith’s biggest challenge of 2020, I expect him to thrive and score multiple times.
Smith is also starting on special teams as Alabama’s returner. Although he hasn’t scored off of a punt yet, Jaylen Waddle scored against LSU on a punt return in 2019. Smith could always score on special teams.
