Alabama football’s report card vs. LSU Tigers

Offensive Line: A

Alabama’s offensive line has been a strength all season, and this game was no different. They did everything right against the LSU front. They gave Mac Jones a clean pocket, gave Najee Harris running lanes and even forced the defense to jump offsides. Things weren’t great in the screen game, but the offensive line did everything else incredibly well.

This unit should win the Joe Moore Award. They are one of the best offensive lines that Nick Saban has ever coached. With Mac Jones under center, it is more important to keep a clean pocket. Jones does not have the scrambling ability of Blake Sims or Jalen Hurts, and he loves to throw the deep ball.

Defensive Line: B+

To start the game, Alabama’s defensive line did a good job of dictating the line of scrimmage and stopping the run. However, they were not getting to the quarterback in time to affect throws. This completely flipped during the game as Alabama pressured the quarterback and allowed a long touchdown run.

From Byron Young to Christian Barmore to Justin Eboigbe, Alabama has depth and talent on the defensive line. All players got pressure on Finley in this game. All things considered, the D0-ine should be proud of what they did against this LSU offensive line. There is room to improve, but they are taking steps in the right direction.
