Studs and duds for Alabama football vs. LSU

Stud: Jase McClellan

It was in garbage time, but McClellan showed promise as a running back in the fourth quarter. As a true freshman, he is taking the right steps towards having a promising collegiate career. Next season, he will be featured in a backfield with Roydell Williams, Trey Sanders and Keilan Robinson. Those four backs will fight for carries, but McClellan has to be in the mix. He is one of many freshmen who deserve more snaps this season.

Dud: Bryce Young

Bryce Young wasn’t given many snaps to work with against the LSU Tigers. He mostly had to hand the ball to the running back. However, he did make some bad plays when he got to throw. He wasn’t accurate, and he took a bad sack. The offense failed to score a touchdown while he was under center, and he was part of the reason why.

There should be no reason to worry about Young. He is going to be a great Alabama football player by the time it is all said and done. That being said, you would prefer for him to have progressed a bit more this season. He hasn’t been given many snaps, but he has done little to live up to the hype so far. We’ll see if that changes against Arkansas on Saturday. He will surely get plenty of snaps against the Razorbacks.
