Alabama football’s takeaways to the Early Signing Period
2. The wide receiver room is loaded once again
In 2017, Alabama landed the best receiver class in college football history. Between DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs, that class will likely never be topped. However, Alabama football is doing its best to replicate that success in 2021.
Four of the top nine receivers in 2021 have been added to this Alabama recruiting class. That type of top-level talent is rare for one class. It starts with Jacorey Brooks, arguably the best receiver in this class. Agiye Hall and Christian Leary have been committed for a while, so we expected the group to be great.
The player that changes the game is JoJo Earle. Earle was an LSU commit, but he switched to Alabama at the last minute. He might be the fastest player in this entire class, which seems to be a theme for Alabama recruiting. From Ruggs to Waddle, we have valued speed in recent years. Earle will be the next in line.
1. Alabama feels great about this class
This takeaway is apparent for many reasons. Recruiting classes are often seen as fluid until players sign on the dotted line. Some players have a change of heart. Others receive new offers late in the cycle. Sometimes, Alabama will take away offers before the players can sign.
However, Alabama football has seen limited turnover in their class. Most commits have stuck with the Tide, and Alabama has stuck with them. Outside of a few flipped recruits, the class has been solidified for weeks.
It also speaks volumes that Alabama let all of these players sign early. That means that they are positive in their interest. The Tide could have asked the players to wait, but they allowed them to sign as early as possible.
Alabama fans should be excited about this class. There are plenty of reasons to be hyped, but these are the top takeaways from yesterday.
