Alabama football’s report card vs. Florida Gators

Inside Linebackers: C+

Christian Harris was available for this game, which was not a guarantee. However, we almost saw his night end early with a targeting penalty. Thankfully, the call was overturned. With the way that Florida runs the ball, we knew that the inside linebackers would mostly be used to blitz and cover. They would not be needed as much to fill gaps in the run game, and they would be taken off the field for nickel and dime coverage often.

Moses did well with the run, but he was atrocious in pass coverage. He had multiple penalties when covering deep passes. While Moses is a great leader, he has not lived up to the hype in 2020. We’ll have to wait and see how it affects his NFL draft stock.

Outside Linebackers: A

Chris Allen might be one of the most improved players on this team from start to finish. He has more versatility than a typical outside linebacker in Nick Saban’s defense. He was in charge of the running back in coverage, and he stayed with him stride for stride. Immediately after that play, Allen forced a major sack.

Will Anderson forced a crucial fumble, and he almost had a second one. He is going to be a star for years to come, and this was just another game with an upward trajectory.
