Alabama Football: Tide’s report card in SEC Championship Game

Alabama football’s report card vs. Florida Gators
Running Backs: A+
Najee Harris struggled last week with a wet field. Thankfully, the conditions were favorable in Atlanta. He managed to keep his footing and scored the first touchdown for Alabama. That score set the career rushing touchdowns record for the Crimson Tide.
Harris is simply a monster. He is having one of the best seasons from a running back in Alabama football history, and this game was no different. He could do it between the tackles or outside. While he rarely busted free for major gains, he gained more than needed on almost every play.
Harris has also been great in pass protection and as a receiver. He is an all-around back, and he should be a lock to win the Doak Walker Award.
Wide Receivers: A+
DeVonta Smith went into this game as a Heisman candidate. Some believed that he should be the frontrunner. After two crucial catches on the first drive, he showed why he is in the mix. By the time this game was over, he proved that he deserves the Heisman Trophy. He does it all for the Crimson Tide, and he is the best player in college football.
John Metchie’s best play wasn’t a catch or a touchdown. It was a massive hit after a Florida turnover. He immediately gave Alabama the football back, and Smitty scored on the next play. With Waddle and Smitty leaving for the NFL, Metchie will be the top guy in 2021. This receiving corps is in safe hands for the foreseeable future.
