Alabama football’s greatest moments from 2020

8. Alabama wins the 2020 Iron Bowl

It was hard to watch Mac Jones and the Crimson Tide struggle against the Auburn Tigers in 2019. Jones threw multiple interceptions, and the loss inevitably destroyed Alabama’s CFP chances. Because of that, there was an extra amount of pressure on the Tide against the Tigers.

Even with this pressure, Alabama dominated in the 2020 Iron Bowl. They forced Bo Nix to make plenty of mistakes, and Jones threw five passing touchdowns. This was a great redemption game for Mac Jones after struggling against Auburn’s defense in 2019. While Auburn dominated time of possession, Alabama dominated the scoreboard. The Iron Bowl always means more than a typical rivalry game, but there is added importance when you are coming off of a loss in the previous year.

7. Alabama gets revenge on LSU

LSU struggled all of 2020, but Alabama still took pleasure in beating the Tigers on their own field. LSU did a lot in 2019, but their brightest moment of all was beating Alabama football in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Without that win, the Tiger might have not gone on to win their title.

After that game, LSU fans truly believed that this was a changing of the guard. They believed that the Tigers would win in recruiting and beat Alabama consistently. This game proved that not to be the case. Alabama’s trio of stars stepped up, and Smitty started his Heisman campaign against Derek Stingley Jr. and the LSU secondary.
