Players to know for Notre Dame vs. Alabama football

Liam Eichenberg, OT

Eichenberg is one of the best offensive tackles in college football. He will likely be drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he is the best piece of Notre Dame’s offensive line. Chris Allen and Will Anderson have been peaking at the right time, but this will be a true test for them in the Rose Bowl.

The offense has been firing on all cylinders thanks to those stars, but what about the defense? The Notre Dame Fighting Irish only allow 18.6 points a game, but Alabama football has scored at least 35 points every game for the past two seasons. If the Irish want to stay strong, they will turn to these athletes.

Kyle Hamilton, FS

Hamilton is another sophomore who has been great for Notre Dame football. He ties for the lead in total tackles on his team, and he is also solid in coverage. He only has one interception, but this is mostly because of how the Fighting Irish use him.

Alabama football will have to attack Hamilton in this game, but that isn’t a guarantee for success. The Crimson Tide thrive on the deep passing game, and Mac Jones will have to throw into some tight windows against this secondary. That means that you can expect Mac to trust DeVonta Smith to make a play against Hamilton. We’ll see if he can hold his own against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
