Bold predictions for Alabama football vs. Notre Dame
2. Alabama will score a non-offensive touchdown
Alabama’s offense alone will score plenty of points. They have scored at least 35 points in every game over the past two seasons, and they have done so against tougher defenses than Notre Dame.
While this is true, the offense isn’t the only way that Alabama likes to score. The Tide have successfully scored in a variety of ways. Malachi Moore recovered a fumble for a touchdown, and three players have returned interceptions for touchdowns.
Alabama football has also seen DeVonta Smith return a punt for a touchdown. While it is risky to play starters on special teams, there are some obvious benefits. Smitty is a threat to score every time he touches the football. If he finds a crease, he can take it to the house.
With all of these non-offensive touchdowns, it is not wild to think that they will score another. Players look to score whenever they force a turnover, and this group of guys is great at doing so. People instinctively find a player to block, and our defensive backs are athletic enough to avoid being tackled.
If Notre Dame makes a single mistake, there will be blood in the water. That is when players like Malachi Moore and Patrick Surtain shine the brightest.
