Keys for Alabama football to beat Notre Dame

2. Avoid explosive plays from Kyren Williams

Kyren Williams is one of the most underrated running backs in college football. He benefits from the offensive line, but he can make a play in open space. For Notre Dame to beat Alabama, it will take some excellent plays from some excellent players. That means that they will need greatness from Kyren Williams, and he is capable of doing just that.

Notre Dame’s best games have coincided with great performances by Williams. He is certainly a big part of their game plan for taking down the Tide, so Alabama football needs to be ready.

They shouldn’t be worried about Williams dinking and dunking his way down the field. Alabama’s offense is so explosive that this won’t be enough to keep up. However, Williams is also capable of explosive plays of his own. That means that Alabama can’t let him have major gains in the running or passing game.

With Alabama running more nickel and dime, it is easier for running backs to take advantage. We’ve seen Georgia and Ole Miss do just that. Thankfully, the defense has improved over the course of the season. Alabama football will be ready, but they really just need to keep everything in front of them. Be ready to take advantage of their own mistakes. If Alabama can do that, they’ll be just fine.
