Alabama Football one step closer to their eighteenth national championship after victory over Notre Dame

Alabama football dominated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 31-14 in the Capital One Rose Bowl. However, we could easily debate if the Irish deserved a playoff bid over Texas A&M and Cincinnati. Clearly outmatched against the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff semifinal, Notre Dame could not hang with the nation’s number one team.

Alabama Football moves on to the championship game on January 11th in Miami.

We may be looking through Crimson glasses, but no ‘Duds’ were apparent in the one-sided Rose Bowl. Here are the Studs from the playoff victory.

The Big Three

Mac Jones, Najee Harris and DeVonta Smith delivered.

Efficient as always, the cold-blooded assassin Jones’ numbers on the day were 25-for-30, for 297 yards and four scores.

Senior running back Najee Harris rushed for 125 yards on 15 carries. The game’s highlight belonged to the Alabama all-time leading rusher as he performed his remarkable trademark hurdle over a hapless Irish defender.

Three touchdowns and 134 yards belonged to the presumptive Heisman winner, Devonta Smith. Silky smooth with deceptive speed, the slim receiver breezed through the Notre Dame defense time and time again.

A successful day for the future Heisman, Maxwell, and Doak Walker award winners. Other than one dropped pass by Najee Harris, there was almost nothing the trio could have done better against the Fighting Irish.
