How did Alabama football do in the Rose Bowl?
After missing the College Football Playoff last year, Alabama football came into 2020 with a vengeance. After an undefeated regular season, the Crimson Tide beat Florida to make it to the CFP as the top-ranked team.
They faced off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in AT&T Stadium. While not everything was perfect, the Tide came away with a big win as they punched their ticket to the national title game.
This was Alabama’s final test before competing for another championship. While they mostly aced it, not everything was perfect. Let’s take a look at Alabama football‘s report card from the Rose Bowl victory in Arlington. As always, we will break it down by position group. Let’s start with the tight ends.
Tight Ends: A
The development of Jahleel Billingsley has been great for the versatility of Alabama’s offense. Since Jaylen Waddle went down with an injury, Alabama has run more 12-personnel to utilize both Miller Forristall and Billingsley.
While both tight ends got targets early, Billingsley caught Alabama’s second touchdown of this game. Billingsley also made a nice snag while being draped in coverage to convert a first down.
By the time Billingsley leaves Tuscaloosa, he might be the greatest tight end that Saban has ever coached. Steve Sarkisian is just scratching the surface with ways to use him, and he will be even more talented over the rest of his college football career. However, all that matters is how the Crimson Tide use him in the title game. Expect some new plays going just to Billingsley in Miami.
