4. How healthy is Justin Fields?
Justin Fields played the game of his life against the Clemson Tigers in the Sugar Bowl. This performance was even more impressive when you consider his health.
Fields took a nasty rib shot in the first half of this game. After going back in, he looked like he could barely throw the ball. He would wince every time he handed it to Trey Sermon. However, he looked like a different quarterback in the second half. He was mobile, and his range of motion seemed completely normal.
While all of this was great for Fields, I’m sure he will feel differently once the adrenaline wears off. He could easily have some broken ribs. That type of injury comes down to the pain threshold. He should play, but will he be able to play as well in the title game?
It could also impact how Fields is able to practice this week. If he has to miss a few days to rehab an injury, the Buckeyes could be at a disadvantage.
All of this could be a moot point. Fields could be perfectly fine already. However, we won’t know that until we get more information. Until we learn that, this has to be one of the top storylines for the title game.
