Nick Saban coached in his eighth national championship game for Alabama football, but this game was against an unfamiliar foe. The Crimson Tide faced off against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Alabama dominated against the Buckeyes to win their 18th national championship. This game was an excellent ending to an unprecedented season. Despite the trials and tribulations, the Tide ended the year on top thanks to their explosive offense and stellar coaching. Despite this being a championship game, Alabama felt comfortable for most of this game.

What were the takeaways from Alabama’s final game of the wild 2020 season?

5. The heart of these players can’t be understated

All week, we’ve talked about the availability of some of Alabama’s best players. Jaylen Waddle has been fighting to be available for this game, but some players were definitely going to be out. Landon Dickerson was unavailable, but he still lined up in warmups.

Jaylen Waddle showed similar leadership. He was obviously injured, but he still played in a limited capacity. He limped after his first catch for a first down, but he still managed to get back out there and contribute for the Crimson Tide.

This team played with tons of heart, and that will be what this team is remembered by. You should expect nothing less from a team that had so many juniors come back for their senior seasons. This team is veteran-led, and it shows on and off of the field.
