Alabama Football: 5 takeaways from the National Championship

5 takeaways from Alabama football vs. Ohio State
2. 2017 is the greatest recruiting class ever
While some of this class is already in the NFL, the rest were seniors. We knew that this group would be talented when they signed, but no one expected this level of success.
Tua was the bright spot of the class at first, and he proved why in his freshman season. He became a Heisman finalist and a first-round NFL Draft pick. However, Mac Jones found similar success as the team’s starter.
The same can be said about the receivers. Everyone was looking forward to seeing what Jerry Jeudy would do in Tuscaloosa, and rightfully so. He was an elite receiver for his entire collegiate career, but DeVonta Smith found a way to be better.
You can also add Jedrick Wills and Alex Leatherwood to the elite group. Najee Harris had an elite career after waiting behind Damien Harris and Josh Jacobs.
All of these players are on one side of the ball. Dylan Moses was in this class. Xavier McKinney was in this class. Even other studs like LaBryan Ray, Chris Allen and Phil Mathis were in this class.
Alabama has been the best recruiting team in college football. Even with that type of standard, the 2017 class stands above the rest. No one will ever recruit a class that will top what Nick Saban did in 2017.
