Nick Saban has excelled in every facet of coaching. Since taking over in Tuscaloosa, he has led the Crimson Tide to six national championships. He has recruited better than anyone, he has the best overall record and he has outlasted every head coach in the SEC. While he has developed talent on the roster, he has also created quite the coaching tree. Alabama football’s assistant coaches have always been poached, and Nick Saban has continued to replenish the staff.

With the thought of at least 11 assistants leaving the staff, I thought it would be fun to craft the perfect coaching staff for Alabama football. Now, let’s be clear. This is not a prediction or even a wishlist. This is the absolutely perfect coaching staff imaginable. It is filled with impossibilities. Still, this would be the perfect staff for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama football’s perfect offensive coaching staff

Offensive coordinator/QB coach: Steve Sarkisian

Sark has brought the Alabama offense to staggering new heights. He coached a Heisman winner at wide receiver, and his creativity has helped the offense break records. While it was hard choosing between Sarkisian and Lane Kiffin, Sarkisian’s ability to develop quarterbacks sets him apart. By the time the 2021 NFL Draft is done, he will have likely coached two first-round picks in two seasons. No other Saban assistant at Alabama has coached one first-round pick at quarterback.

Offensive line coach: Kyle Flood

Flood has only been in Tuscaloosa for two years, but he has been a terrific recruiter and developer of talent. 2020 was one of Alabama’s best and deepest offensive lines ever. Even when players like Evan Neal and Landon Dickerson were unavailable, the offensive line persevered.

Flood also recruited the greatest offensive line class in recent memory. While he won’t be there to coach the 2021 recruits, he is the reason why they will be playing Alabama football.
