Alabama football’s starting quarterback will participate in the Senior Bowl.

This might not come as a surprise, but Mac Jones is heading to Mobile to compete against the other top seniors in the country. After a record-setting season with Alabama football, Jones will look to boost his NFL Draft stock in the Senior Bowl.

The Senior Bowl provides participants with a unique experience to work out with NFL teams in front of executives around the league. Players can do drills and play against other top athletes before the rest of the NFL Draft process. They can also interview with scouts, which is equally valuable.

Mac Jones is coming off of an elite season with the Crimson Tide, but he still has a chance to prove himself as an NFL prospect in Mobile. For starters, Mac Jones needs to show that it wasn’t the system that led to his success. He threw to two first-round receivers and the best running back in college football, and he had one of the best play-callers imaginable in Tuscaloosa. He also played behind an NFL-caliber offensive line. Many will use that to knock Mac Jones’s talent, but this gives him a chance to show just what he can do on his own.

He will also get to showcase his athleticism. A major knock on Mac Jones is his inability to extend plays with his feet and scramble. If Jones can show off his wheels in the Senior Bowl, he could boost his NFL Draft stock this week.

The best thing that Jones will do is display his abilities on the same field as Kyle Trask. The top four quarterback prospects seem to be locked in, and none of them will be attending the Senior Bowl. Outside of them, Mac Jones and Kyle Trask are fighting for a first-round grade. With different situations in college, it is hard to compare these two players specifically. The Senior Bowl will put them on the same field in the same situations, and one will emerge as a better prospect. If Mac Jones can prove that he is better than Kyle Trask, his NFL Draft stock will see a significant boost.

Mac Jones won’t be the only Alabama football player in attendance. DeVonta Smith and multiple offensive linemen will be in Mobile. By the end of the week, we will have a clearer idea of where some of these players will be drafted.
