Alabama Football: We might see Crimson Tide in a video game

Alabama football might be in a new EA Sports College Football video game.

For years, Alabama football fans have had to get creative to see their beloved Crimson Tide in a video game. Some have created custom rosters on Madden games. Others still have old consoles just to play the outdated NCAA Football 14. However, there is news of a new EA Sports College Football video game.

EA Sports tweeted a teaser for fans who have been waiting since 2013 to play a new college football video game. While there were no details, it at least appears that we might be close to seeing Alabama football in a college football video game once again.

There are some important things to note regarding this tweet. For starters, it does not guarantee a video game or a release date. However, this is the closest fans have gotten to having a confirmed college football video game, so there is some cause for celebration.

It also does not include the NCAA in the title name. This could mean many things, but one possibility is that EA Sports is making a college sports game without NCAA licensing. That would mean that they would be without the official Alabama football logo and team name. However, this is just speculation. They could simply be waiting for name, image and likeness laws to go into effect before they strike a deal with the NCAA.

EA Sports does have a history of using college teams in games outside of NCAA Football. In Madden 21, users can select a college to play for on their path to making it to the NFL. However, there are only a handful of options, and the only thing tying this to the college is the name and uniform. Fans cannot play as their favorite college football players until they are drafted to an NFL team. Also, Alabama football is not one of the options for EA Sports, meaning that they do not currently have a deal in place.
