Alabama Football: 3 NFL landing spots for DeVonta Smith
By Dakota Cox
Perfect landing spots for Alabama football’s DeVonta Smith
1. Miami Dolphins
This is clearly the best landing spot for the Alabama football legend. There is a legitimate chance that Smith is drafted third overall by the Dolphins, and that would do wonders for his life. He would make millions more than if he were even drafted 10th overall. Also, he would be competing to make the NFL Playoffs on a team that is ready to compete.
Miami is a few pieces away from being an AFC contender each and every season. If they choose to build around Tua Tagovailoa, they should definitely draft weapons for this offense. Smith would unlock almost every level of the offense, but his best skill would be his ability to catch balls down the field. Many Miami receivers had drops on crucial passes by Tua, and he needs to trust his receivers to make those catches.
Obviously, Tua trusts DeVonta Smith. In their freshman year with Alabama football, they connected on one of the greatest plays in the history of college sports. Drafting Smith would bring back the 2nd and 26 connection, which would help bolster the careers of everyone involved.
I realize that it might be a stretch to draft DeVonta Smith with the third overall pick, but the Dolphins could also trade back and draft Smitty. Either way, the scheme fit would be perfect. Smith is also working with Miami’s coaching staff at the Senior Bowl, so they will know just how special he can be.
