Alabama Football: 6 ideal NFL landing spots for Mac Jones

Ideal NFL fits for Alabama football’s Mac Jones
4. Pittsburgh Steelers
This might feel a little low for a team with a history of success. To be fair, there are plenty of good fits for Mac Jones, and this is one of them. For starters, Pittsburgh needs a new quarterback in the near future. Their offense currently relies on an immobile quarterback with a quality arm, so Jones would not be asked to do crazy things with his legs. He could simply stay within the pocket and win with his arm.
Pittsburgh also has an excellent defense. The pressure would not be on Jones early. With the receivers on the roster, he would have plenty of talent to utilize. While the offensive line struggled towards the end of the year, that won’t be a long-term issue for the Steelers.
While all of this is great, this isn’t a perfect landing spot. Ben Roethlisberger does not have a reputation for being a great mentor for a young quarterback. This wouldn’t be like Ryan Fitzpatrick helping former Alabama football quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Pittsburgh also has a weak running game, so that is an offensive issue that must be fixed.
The Steelers need a plan for life without Big Ben, and this could very well be it. They also have Dwayne Haskins on the roster next year, so they might not be looking for a replacement at this time. However, their plan might change if Mac Jones is available.
