Alabama Football: 6 ideal NFL landing spots for Mac Jones
By Dakota Cox
Ideal NFL fits for Alabama football’s Mac Jones
1. New Orleans Saints
The Saints have had stability at the quarterback position for the past couple of decades. Drew Brees has been great for the Saints, but it is finally time to build for the future. While Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston were both on the roster this season, you can’t believe that either of them is a long-term solution for New Orleans. That means that New Orleans will have to look in the draft.
The bad news is that Mac Jones likely won’t be available by the time New Orleans is drafting. Mac’s draft stock has been rising all year. However, someone always slides down the draft boards. If Mac gets past the first few waves of teams who need a quarterback, the Saints have to think about trading up. They have a terrible cap situation, so a rookie deal at quarterback would be huge.
From Jones’s perspective, this would be great. The offensive line is sturdy. He would be throwing in a dome for half of his games. He has a loyal fanbase in a great city. The Saints have two of the best skill players in Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara. With great coaching and a solid defense, this team is a quarterback away from making it back to the NFL Playoffs.
This landing spot might cost Mac Jones some money, but the fit on the field is almost perfect. With many Alabama football fans cheering for the Saints, the overlap in the fanbase would be great as well.
Mac Jones can succeed on almost any team. That being said, these are ideal landing spots for the former starting quarterback. We’ll have to wait until April to see where he lands.
