Alabama football is expecting a lot from Keilan Robinson

In his freshman season, Keilan Robinson was a stud for Alabama football. His reps were limited, but he proved himself with a great year thanks to his blinding speed. Robinson opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19, but he is ready to come back in 2021, and he looks stronger than ever.

Robinson has tweeted from a personal workout. While you cannot see how much he is lifting, it is clear that he has gained muscle for the 2021 season. This alone would be good news, but he added to it on Twitter when he told people that he also got faster this offseason.

A faster Keilan Robinson with more muscle is a scary sight. As a freshman, he was already the fastest option in the running back room. If he gets faster, he will be quickly compared to the Alabama football great Kenyan Drake.

Expect Robinson to impact special teams this season. His speed can flip the field easily, and he is liable to break free for a touchdown.

Robinson will be competing for snaps, but the competition will be fierce this season. There is a hole due to Najee Harris heading to the NFL, but plenty of running backs are capable of getting reps. Brian Robinson will be the veteran. Jase McClellan showed plenty of promise as a true freshman. If Trey Sanders is healthy, he is expected to compete for starting snaps. Alabama is also adding the best running back in the 2021 recruiting class.

Clearly, Robinson is going to have to do something to set himself apart. With this type of addition to his frame, he should be ready to show just what he can do for Alabama football in 2021.

Look for Robinson to compete for a starting role this spring. If he loses the starting role, he will still be a key contributor on offense and special teams. He still has plenty of eligibility, so he certainly has a bright future in Tuscaloosa.
