4. Atlanta Falcons: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

This would be poetic justice in the simplest form. Justin Fields started his collegiate career in the state of Georgia with the Bulldogs. After one season of frustration, he bolted for the Big Ten and carried the Buckeyes to the College Football Playoff twice. This would bring him back to Georgia with many of the fans who were mad at him when he entered the transfer portal.

Fields has experience in Atlanta’s stadium. In the SEC Championship, the Bulldogs used Fields on a fake punt against Alabama football on a 4th and 11. It did not work, and the Crimson Tide won.

Fields also ended his collegiate career with a loss to Alabama football in the championship. He played well to get his team to that moment, but he could not keep up with the potent Alabama offense.

Fields has been considered a top quarterback prospect since he was recruited in high school, and it is easy to see why. He has a strong frame and an athletic style of play. His skills would diversify the gameplan due to his ability to scramble and make plays.

However, he also has some weaknesses to his game. He takes forever to make a decision. He will force bad plays when he waits for the perfect opportunity, and that won’t work in the NFL. Still, he is widely considered QB3 in this class, and he could easily go in the top five.

While many will scoff at the Falcons drafting a quarterback, they won’t be drafting this high again for a long time. They need a plan for what to do after Matt Ryan leaves, and this will be a great chance to solidify that plan.
