7. Detroit Lions: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

Detroit has a lot of needs, but they fill one of them with arguably the best defensive player in this class. Parsons is at least likely to be the first defensive player drafted.

Parsons brings versatility to the table, but that is a blessing and a curse. If you use his talents well, he can fill a lot of holes in the defense. If you stretch him too thin, he will be a jack of all trades and a master of none. If you only have him do one or two things, you are missing out on a ton of potential.

We will have to see what the new regime in Detroit wants to do. Since their head coach is talking about busting kneecaps, it is safe to assume that they might want to add some grit on the defensive side of the ball.

This fit isn’t perfect, but we will have to see what Detroit does in free agency before we know what their plan is. If they lose Kenny Golladay in free agency, this might be where Alabama football’s Jaylen Waddle comes off of the board.

If the Lions draft Parsons, they are getting a stout linebacker who can be a leader for years to come.
