Alabama Football: 3 ideal NFL landing spots for Patrick Surtain
By Dakota Cox
Ideal NFL fits for Alabama football’s Patrick Surtain
1. Dallas Cowboys
Dallas has a lot of issues right now. They overpaid at running back. They have massive contracts that will limit their cap. Despite being in the worst division in the NFL, they failed to win the NFC East once again. It’s a dumpster fire in Dallas, but things might be turning up.
Let’s assume that the Cowboys figure out how to make Dak Prescott happy. If that issue gets solved, the team’s outlook immediately gets better. That gives them a chance to focus on other positions of need in the NFL draft, and corner is one of the big ones.
Surtain is a perfect scheme fit in Dallas. He will likely be available when the Cowboys draft, and corner is one of their top needs. With so many big contracts on the books, they need to get cheaper at key positions. This would certainly do that.
The Cowboys drafted another Alabama football corner in 2019. Pairing Surtain with Trevon Diggs would help both players improve. This selection is likely to happen, and it makes perfect sense for all parties involved.
Also, the marketing opportunities that come with being a Dallas Cowboy are amazing. If Surtain panned out, he would be set for life financially on his endorsement deals alone. No matter how the Cowboys are doing, there is a value that comes with playing for that team.
