Alabama football’s Alex Leatherwood would make these NFL teams better
The NFL Draft is approaching, and many Alabama football players are about to find their new NFL homes. While he isn’t the top prospect, Alex Leatherwood will make an NFL team better with his presence. Left tackles are some of the most valuable players in the NFL, and Leatherwood was one of the best in the 2020 college football season.
Leatherwood remains a fringe first-round prospect. While teams will draft Penei Sewell and other tackles ahead of him, he has the traits necessary to start as a rookie. He has plenty of experience, and his leadership will matter over the course of his rookie contract.
Linemen can usually succeed with any team. That being said, these are the best NFL landing spots for Alabama football’s left tackle.
3. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins need to protect Tua Tagovailoa, and Alex Leatherwood would help them do just that. Leatherwood has a history protecting Tua at Alabama football, and he has what it takes to improve Miami’s offensive line as a rookie.
Miami has a solid defense with plenty of returning players. They just need to improve in a few key positions on offense. If they can add weapons and offensive line talent, they will be ready to compete for a spot in the playoffs.
If the Dolphins were to draft Alex Leatherwood, it would likely be in the second round. That isn’t great for Leatherwood in terms of earning potential, but he would become a franchise left tackle. The Dolphins drafted a tackle in the first round of the 2020 draft, but they need to add more bodies to the line.
Plus, playing in the beautiful city of Miami is always a positive.
